In this 21st century of terabytes and gigabytes, in this high-definition age where new ideas “seems” to be redefined hourly, in this Microsoft galaxy, Macintosh stratosphere, planet Linux, where the only question left for desktop “consumers” is “the computer desktop define me as a person?”. Is ironic? In reality, irony “define” the definition of “tyranny”, applied in this now saturated desktop market since the last few years.

The giants of yesterday are already in search of the lost today for the next great revolution, in its two dimensions of the universe, between a liquid crystal display and a plastic molded case that is not know known Cerberus of our time, obviously, where you are looking for or where to go. New innovation you say? Think of the “desktop search dance” a few months ago? Each one of the “less exploited” areas have now reach the point of the next possible billion Dollar advantage against all the others, to wait, to be patient, to saturate again less than the number of nano-seconds it takes to read this sentence.

Now, backup, let’s go back to thinking… What are the steps in the development of the desktop personal computer that we know today? For the majority of those who read this article are respected, the answer will be probably for use with a, let’s say “one-dimensional” static interface, with the MITS Altair, then the Lisa from Apple, the introduction of the first “two dimensional” graphical interface, the acolytes later use as a “standard” in the industry today, later on, stolen by Big Brother and now are forced to be in the world…

Since then, what change? Apart from the better CPU, more memory, more memory, video-card to render in real time billions of polygons per second, or word processing software, the use of an introduction thousands of functions, but how many really? nothing to stop now. What is the real evolution of the personal computer of today is, as we say, twenty years? The performance has changed, Yes, but what is the concept of a personal computer?

If someone asks, you Can call a machine to the computer if this machine will have a screen and a dead rat attached?”. Your answer is probably “no”. Now take a second and pick up the pen…

What you’ve just done? Interact, in a “tri-dimensional” world, to pick up an object with certain properties and functionalities. Now can you imagine a 270 degree panoramic view of the virtual world projected in front of you, through the use of a head-mounted display, in which you can move freely and interact with objects that respond to movements of the hands or change the current field of view from the desktop, with objects and 3D Windows floating around, only for his head? What here is described, futuristic sounds,, some of you, but it is not the logic consequence of this, we were told, since the beginning of time… 1, 2, 3, is the logical evolution of the current vision that we have?

It is difficult to imagine? Maybe for some of you, but everyone has to recognize that a new revolution need to take place to communicate, a revolution that will change the way people think and the way people interact with the information, a revolution that will change our vision and concepts of change in our society over twenty years ago.

Dominant companies do not want to redefine what you have done, during more than a decade. The initiative should be taken, by outsiders, materials, technological artists, people who think differently and want to redefine what have been defined is the concept of evolution? The clouded vision of information and technology leader, we know today, limited to a static, two-dimensional environment, looking at the computer screen ask yourself: “what can we do?”. What happens if the answers in the wrong place? What happens if the answers are behind the screen? In a third reality, a reality where the current limitations of the personal computer desktop of today are pushed, pushed to the next level, a level at which the difference between the real world and the virtual world boundaries are redefined, where the user can interact in a new dynamic constructive and visually appealing way, and increase your productivity.
